VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Little Oldies! Before completing the application below, please review our volunteer opportunities. In order to be considered as a volunteer you must meet the requirements listed. Volunteers must be at least 10 years old and any children ages 10-15 must be accompanied by an adult volunteer. Volunteers must be at least age 16 to fill out the volunteer application. Volunteers are required to sign and submit the Volunteer Release and Waiver of Liability and Volunteer Code of Conduct, found below. Volunteer opportunities are not paid and all volunteers are subject to a background check. We request that you only accept a volunteer position if you are able to commit to a minimum of six months. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. There may be a wait list to volunteer for certain days or positions.

CARE VOLUNTEERS

Little Oldies Care Volunteers assist in providing care and comfort to the dogs as well as support to the staff.

Responsibilities include:

  • Cuddling and comforting the dogs.

  • Walking dogs on-leash as well as monitoring dogs in the enclosed, off-leash area.

  • Poop scooping outdoors.

  • Cleaning up pee and/or poop accidents indoors.

  • Changing wee wee pads.

  • Changing dog diapers.

  • General cleaning of the sanctuary space including folding laundry and washing floors.

  • Restocking utility closets of supplies.

Qualities/Skills:

  • Self-awareness of body language when working around animals.

  • Able to meet the physical demands of volunteering including standing, walking, bending, and reaching.

  • Able to lift, push, pull, or carry objects weighing up to 40 lbs.

  • Able to take direction.

  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team.

  • Have love and patience for our senior dogs!


SPECIALIZED SKILL VOLUNTEERS

Little Oldies also needs volunteers with specialized skills and experience including:

  • Minding the booth at fairs, festivals, and farmers’ markets

  • Grant writing
